2010 Summer Trip: SEA Trip Outline

My travel plan is change a bit since Christina, a good friend of mine, will join me to Laos and Thailand.

Viet Nam – Start Trip

Can Tho → Saigon: 5hr Phuong Trang bus: 70.000VND ~4USD

– Nếu muốn đi Lào bằng đường bộ, du khách có thể đi từ Đà Nẵng qua cửa khẩu Lao Bảo bằng đường 9 Nam Lào. Mỗi tuần có ba chuyến xe đưa khách đi Vientiane và Savannakhet vào các ngày thứ ba, năm, bảy, xuất bến lúc 8 giờ sáng (đến Vientiane vào 2 giờ sáng hôm sau – giá vé 250.000đ; ĐT: 0913.412.442).

Từ Huế có đến ba chuyến xe buýt/ngày; xuất phát lúc 9g30 sáng hằng ngày, chủ yếu tập trung ở khu Tây balô đường Nguyễn Tri Phương, Hùng Vương và Phạm Ngũ Lão.

Laos – Part 1

Savannakhet → Vientiane: bus

Vientiane → Vieng Vang: 5hr bus

Vieng Vang → Luang Prabang: 7hr bus

Luang Prabang → Luang Nam Tha: 9hr bus

Luang Nam Tha → Huay Xai (border point): 5hr bus + 5~10 mins on ferry on Mekong River

Thailand- Part 1

Huay Xai → Chiang Kong: bus

Chiang Kong → Chiang Mai: bus

Chiang Mai → Bangkok: bus

Bangkok → Singapore: airplane, in transit (70usd)

Singapore → Borneo, Malaysia: airplane (Kota Kinabalu International Airport – 50usd)

No specific plan in this lovely part – I am collecting info and list highlight must-visit places

I will spend around 1 week here to wander in Jakarta, Bandung, Bogor, or Yogyakarta.

I choose Burma. I will arrange 30-day-20$-travel visa. I will fly from Thailand to Burma (a 2-way ticket).

  1. Wow, looks like an amazing trip! How long will you travel for? Do you plan on going alone or with a travel partner? Just some advice from my travels… Think about how long you want to stay in each place. It’s very far a to get to somewhere like Java. For me I was worried it would maybe be the only time I was ever there. Only planning one week to spend in all those amazing places is a very short time, but sometimes that’s how it has to be. As for Borneo, Jenn and I really liked hanging out in the city of Kuching. I would also highly recommend Bako National Park. We hiked around there and saw really cool proboscis monkeys and other animals.
    This trip sounds like so much fun. It’s so exciting that you’re getting to travel all around SE Asia, just like you’ve always wanted. I’m so happy for you. I really liked your pictures from your Singapore trip, and it makes me miss traveling. I can’t wait for when you can eventually visit the US!! Let’s try to skype soon and we can talk about traveling!
